Vikings urmareste aventurile lui Ragnar Lothbrok, cel mai mare erou al vremurilor sale. Serialul urmareste viata si actiunile bandei de vikingi dar si a familiei lui Ragnar, si drumul sau catre tronul triburilor vikinge. Pe langa faptul ca este un luptator neinfricat, Ragnar imbratiseaza traditiile si devotamentul catre zei, legenda spunand ca era un descendent direct al lui Odin, zeul razboiului si al razboinicilor.
