Serialul prezinta aventurile unei calatoare in timp. La baza intrigii lui sta povestea lui Claire (Beauchamp) Randall, o tanara care a activat ca asistenta in timpul celui de-Al Doilea Razboi Mondial. Ea este casatorita cu Frank Randall, istoric, posibil spion in timpul aceluiasi razboi. Actiunea incepe in1945, dupa reunirea celor doi la sfarsitul marii conflagratii mondiale. Claire se casatorise cu Frank din dragoste, iar acum se aflau in Scotia, la Inverness, incercand sa-si reia mariajul printr-o a doua luna de miere....
