Richie este un fost dependent de droguri care lucreaza ca paznic intr-un bar condus de Bill. Dupa ce descopera cadavrul unei tinere care s-a sinucis in baie, Richie, inglodat in datorii si cu o multime de probleme, decide sa faca si el acelasi lucru. Insa inainte sa-si incheie socotelile cu viata, Richie este sunat de sora sa, Maggie, cu care nu a mai vorbit de ani de zile. Maggie ii cere sa o aduca de la scoala pe fiica sa Sophia. Chiar daca nu este incantat de idee, Richie accepta in cele din urma. Intre cei doi se infiripa o relatie cu totul si cu totul speciala.
